Rescue Neuter and Release (RNR) is a program that MPF offers the community to help control the stray dog and cat population. Injured and infirm stray dogs and cats, with the help of volunteers and our dedicated staff, are rescued from their locality, provided medical care, nutrition, and shelter until they recover their health, and are then released back to the same locality where they were rescued.

MPF is fortunate to have a dedicated team of animal caregivers led by a Team Leader under the direct management and mentoring of the founders, Dr. Ravindra Kasbekar and Mrs. Padmini Stump. The team is responsible for the care of the animals, and maintenance of the shelter, including:

  • Preparing the food and feeding the animals twice a day,
  • Cleaning and sanitizing the animals’ living area daily,
  • Administering first aid and medication as needed.
  • Bathing and grooming the dogs regularly,
  • Transporting animals who need specialized veterinary services,
  • Walking the animals and monitoring their health issues.
  • Distributing food each night to 300+ stray dogs in the vicinity.

Since MPF was founded in 2010, we have saved the lives of thousands of animals and have had the joy and privilege of facilitating their adoptions. With the continued support of the community, the volunteers, and the staff at MPF, we look forward to the next paw print in our history with passion, anticipation, and hope.

We facilitate 200+ adoptions and rehabilitate hundreds of strays under our RNR program each year. We also undertake spay/neuter surgeries by specialized veterinary surgeons to help control the stray animal population. Hundreds of dogs that are old, disabled, and unfit for adoption are provided a forever home at our Saswad animal shelter.

MPF is limited in the number of animals that we can take into the shelter.  Our main objective is to rescue and rehabilitate seriously injured, abandoned, and stray animals. However, exceptions are made under certain specific conditions bearing in mind the safety and welfare of the animal.
